Total Perspective Vortex.

It's not often I get to say this so I'm going to make the most of it with some italics.

This post contains the entire observable universe!

Today's plink is called 'The Scale of the Universe' and it's really quite impressive. It's a sliding scale that starts with objects the size of an average person and can be adjusted all the way down to the level of quantum foam or up to the aforementioned limits of the observable universe. Obviously, there are many, many things in between and as well as the more obvious (planets, man-made structures, creatures, atomic materials) there are some more esoteric items (earth's second moon, the combined space taken up by every instance of Minecraft, etc). Brilliantly, you can also click on anything within the scale to find out more about it. Did you know, for example that the largest recorded hailstone was comparable in size to a basketball?

All these things and more can be found in The Scale Of The Universe.

Neat!
